Please read the interview with master luthiers Eliran Barashi and Kiki Goldstein. A quick introduction please, name, company, location:
B&G Handmade Guitars designs and builds modern classics at Tel-Aviv, Israel.
What got you started making gear?
Started playing when I was 19, and I fell in love with the guitar. I always liked working with my hands building stuff, and I immediately had the urge to create a guitar for myself.
What gear do you make?
Electric guitars with the vibe of vintage.
Where do you operate from?
What about making gear do you like the most?
The feedback from guitar players when they try the instrument.
Is this a hobby or full time operation?
Full time operation. Hoping to become an empire soon.
Who inspires you/who do you look up to musically, IE what gear do you admire?
Mainly Gibson & Fender in its golden age and Stella in its early years, and the other classics. I love vintage and collect aged instruments. The Les Paul 59 is a perfect instrument I spent a lot of time studying.
What pisses you off/what do you like; about the boutique audio gear building industry?
When someone thinks he can get a handmade guitar for $900 that can piss me off. I like the other builders in this industry, usually they're awesome guys.
Are you still in a band or play music and do you use your own gear?
I play a lot, but only at home. I'm too shy
